Mathematics

The Math Department at CVSR offers a full range of courses for all students, from those needing extra support to those who are budding mathematicians. Advanced Placement courses include AP Calculus and Computer Science. Our students routinely perform above the national percentage placement.

This year CVSR added new courses to their students, in addition to offering more tutoring programs and more online resources for students in different grades.

Courses

  • • Relationships Between Quantities and Reasoning with Equations and Their Graphs

    • Descriptive Statistics

    • Linear and Exponential Functions

    • Polynomial and Quadratic Expressions, Equations and Functions

    • A Synthesis of Modeling with Equations and Functions

  • • Congruence, Proof, and Constructions

    • Similarity, Proof, and Trigonometry

    • Extending to Three Dimensions

    • Connecting Algebra and Geometry through Coordinates

    • Circles with and Without Coordinates

  • In the Math: Quantitative Reasoning course, students are introduced to quantitative analysis by focusing on a broad range of topics that emphasize number sense, algebra, and statistics.

In the fall, students earn credit for a high school course that builds foundational skills for college coursework. In the spring, they earn high school and college credit through College Now for CUNY BMCC’s MAT161.5: Topics in Quantitative Reasoning.
