A Message from the Principal

Dear Channel View Family,

Welcome! As the Principal of Channel View School for Research (CVSR), I am honored to lead your child on their educational journey. My vision is to partner with our families and community to prepare your child for college, career, and civic life. I believe that core values such as integrity, character, and a strong work ethic are as important as academics.

At CVSR, we have a proven track record and have charted a clear path for your child’s success. We have established a fun and engaging approach to teaching and learning that sets high expectations for all students. I am confident that you will partner with us to ensure your child reaches their full potential.

Our school expects that all students pass the Common Core Algebra Regents by 9th grade with a minimum grade of 80. All 8th-grade students will take the Common Core Algebra, Living Environment, and U.S. History Regents in June. Some students may also take the Spanish Language Proficiency Exam.

Channel View students must pass at least three Advanced Placement Courses and two College Now courses. CVSR currently offers ten Advanced Placement courses beginning in grade 9. These college-level courses allow your child to earn college credit in high school. Channel View is one of only one hundred schools nationwide to offer students the opportunity to receive the prestigious AP Capstone diploma awarded by The College Board.

All parents should ensure that their child arrives on time and is dressed in full uniform attire daily. Be vigilant in promoting a safe and productive school environment by monitoring their cell phone use and social media presence. Please partner with us to make your child successful by ensuring that your child maintains at least an 85% average in all coursework, a 95% attendance rate, and meets all college and career readiness benchmarks.

Sincerely,

Denise K. Harper Richardson, Principal
